After Batman Returns caused advertisers to run like the Batmobile from the Penguin with green goop coming out of his mouth, Warner Brothers was starting to realize their once reliable tent pole comic book franchise was going to have to reset their movie franchise expectations.
Meanwhile, a cartoon by the name of Batman The Animated Series was doing more than its part in quenching the thirst of Batman fans who felt the Caped Crusader was misrepresented by Tim Burton’s vision. Smelling blood in the water, Warner Brothers made the business decision to release a theatrical version of this series and try to expose it to a wider audience with Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
How did they do? Join Garrett, Matt, and Adam as they explore the cartoon itself and bring all their own experiences of it into this viewing of the film and have perhaps the most interesting podcast of this series so far. Is Batman The Animated Series that good? Is Mark Hamill really the best Joker ever? How good is the idea of Batman in love?
I couldn’t disagree with Matt and Adam more on this one. Hopefully they don’t think Kilmer or Clooney were good in these films lol can’t wait to find out fellas!
