Welcome to this special Thanksgiving treat as Garrett has finally picked up the microphone and recorded a new Percolated Media Presents. Garrett certainly arrived to the proverbial Thanksgiving dinner with a good one, as he welcomes film review/author Matt Singer to talk about his brand-new book, Opposable Thumbs: How Siskel and Ebert Changed Movies Forever.
Listen to Singer talk about how he came to the idea of doing the book, how hard/easy it was to gather interviews with the widows and people in their lives, his own connection to Roger Ebert, their talk show appearances, and so much more. Singer is more than an author. He’s a fan, and we’d like to thank him for taking time to come on and talk to us.
Then, as a sort of tribute to Siskel and Ebert, Garrett welcomes Percolated Media’s own Matthew Goudreau to review Alexander Payne’s latestfilm, The Holdovers. How do the guys feel about Alexander Payne’s filmography, and how does this new one measure up? Siskel and Ebert and their influence had a huge effect on the format of The Three Men and A Retrospective Podcast that it was only fitting we continue the tradition with this sort of tribute to them.
In addition, please don’t forget to pick up Singer’s book to hear the real story behind their rivalry, and the secrets to their success. We’d like to thank Matt for devoting his time to chat with us and to all of you for listening!
