Despite having the proverbial architect Shane Black as director/writer, 2018’s The Predator was a disappointing effort in a long line of follow-ups to the 1987 original. Many thought the franchise would sit in the shelf for years as the studio figured out how to move forward. Little did we know that director Dan Trachtenberg would both pitch a new take and get the thumbs up to move forward. In his own words, he wanted to depict “the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force.” Sound too familiar to the Schwarzengger original? Join The Three Men and a Retrospective and listen to their spoiler filled discussion above. For the sake of Matt and Adam, they’re at least hoping it justified the need to review both Alien vs. Predator installments.

Speaking of returns, the boys are driving back to Gotham City next week but will include a pit stop into Metropolis. Their next entry in the Batman retrospective will be 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Surely this won’t be a show that is in the least bit controversial? Be sure to come back next Friday and find out!
