Before Disney took over for the galaxy located far far away and Dave Filoni was producing Disney Plus shows based on popular characters, creator George Lucas and Filoni himself put together Clone Wars. Beginning with this splicing of three different episodes, Star Wars The Clone Wars ran on the Cartoon Network for seven seasons.
Listen to Garrett, Matt, and Adam as they go back to the Star Wars universe, starting with the 2008 theatrical release Star Wars The Clone Wars. And be sure to keep coming back, as next week they dive right into Disney’s first Star Wars feature, 2015’s Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
With Mad Max Fury Road unexpectedly taking the world by storm in 2015 by garnering huge box office receipts, critical acclaim, and 10 Oscar nominations, it would have seemed only a matter of time before George Miller once again returned to the Wasteland. And 9 years later, the 79 year old Miller did exactly that.
This time, he has the Edgar Wright recommended Anya Taylor Joy as the near iconic title character, and a prop nosed Chris Hemsworth as her adversary. But the film was released almost two months ago to disappointing box office and a mixed reception.
And now, the Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast has finally gotten to it. Listen to Garrett, Matt, and Mik as they dissect the (final?) film and talk about any and all points related to how Joy does in a role that Matt wasn’t too keen on her taking.
And be sure to continue your listen as Matt talks about the next series they are covering. To say those podcasts have been explosive would be an understatement.
Welcome back to Tag Team Podcasting. Join Garrett and Matt as they return to the wrestling rings of the mid 90s and pick up right where they left off in their reviews of WCW/WWF reviews with this look at 1996’s Clash of Champions 32.
What did the Clash of Champions name mean to Garrett growing up? Where was WCW at this point? How much are Garrett and Matt looking forward to getting to the NWO era?
Listen below to find out the answer to all these questions, and be sure to come back next week as they return to the WWF ring to review In Your House 6 Rage in the Cage!
It took over twenty years to make. Its set was rife with confrontation as the two leads spent the majority of the shoot hating each other. But in the end, Mad Max Fury Road ended up shattering all box office and critical expectations to the point where it’s been called one of the best action films ever made. And that does not even scratch the surface.
Is that enough meat on this bone? Join Garrett, Matt, and Mik as they get to the movie that after three films and almost thirty years, would seem to be the epitome of the at that time 70 year old George Miller. What exactly happened on this set? Is the hype of best action film ever a little too hyperbolic.
Listen to the podcast that Matt originally wanted to lead to way back when he first tried getting Garrett to do this series. And be sure to come back next week as they finally get to the most recent Mad Max film, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
After a week of returning to Bad Boys country, it is time to return to the Wasteland. Contained within that Wasteland is of course our buddy Mad Max. But joining him on this journey Beyond Thunderdome is a civilization that contains a group of kids. Oh, and did we mention Tina Turner’s Auntie?
Join Garrett, Matt, and Mik as they talk nearly two hours about 1985’s Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. They take some detours along the way, as Mik divulges things such as rumors of Steven Spielberg’s involvement, and Matt and Garrett talk about similarities between Thunderdome and some wrestling gimmicks which were developed around that time.
Most importantly, the boys divulge where they stand on a movie that is among the most looked down upon of the entire Mad Max series. Keep coming back, as slowly but surely we are leading up to a review of the newly released Furiosa. Next week? 2015’s Mad Max Fury Road.
Four years ago, right before the world stopped, Matt and Garrett spoke about the Bad Boys franchise with the returning Michael Guarnieri. After at least one of the podcasters got a surprising amount of enjoyment out of Bad Boys For Life, they were all under the impression that the franchise was done, deciding to go out on a high note.
But money talks, and Will Smith slaps. After slugging Chris Rock at the Oscar ceremony a couple years later, he found himself with a little PR problem. What better way to fix it than bringing the band back together for a fifth Bad Boys movie.
Join Garrett, Matt, and Mike as they look at Bad Boys Ride or Die and decide if they were to stop now, would it once again be on a high note. And be sure to come back next week as we continue our look at Mad Max with Mik Duffy, with a review of 1985’s Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome!
While not a certified hit, 1979’s Mad Max had enough good word of mouth to enable director George Miller to make the next piece of his saga. Enter Mad Max 2 (or Road Warrior, depending on where you see it), a movie that many call one of the best action films ever made.
Join Matt, Garrett, and Mik as they look at the 1981 film and decide whether that high praise is warranted. Will certified fan Matt be over the moon about this one? What about Garrett? And what, is this Mel Gibson story that Mik has been teasing for months?
Listen below to find out. Also tune in next week, as Matt and Garrett drive off the planned road for a week and bring in Michael Guarnieri to review the latest piece of another established series currently in theaters, Bad Boys Ride or Die!
After bugging Garrett for almost a decade, much to Matt’s delight the Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast has finally hit the Wasteland. Join them and the returning film scholar Mik Duffy as they start their look at the first Mad Max film starring a very young Mel Gibson. What does each host bring to this series? Are they looking forward to this year’s Furiosa? Does Garrett remember liking the much loved Mad Max Fury Road?
So many questions, so many answers. So many car crashes. Click below to begin your dive into director George Miller’s post apocalyptic series!
Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox meant they were now in charge of the Planet of the Apes franchise. So of course, even though War for the Planet of the Apes meant the end of Caesar’s story, they were going to make another one. Enter Maze Runner director Wes Ball and a brand new cast for what all intents and purposes looked like a cash grab of epic proportions called Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Join Garrett, Matt, and Adam as they gather for the tenth time to talk Apes, and look at the new film that has gotten a surprising amount of good reviews. Given their skepticism of the Disney product, do they agree? Also, stay tuned as they say what franchise they’re doing next.
In 2017, it was firmly believed that War of the Planet of the Apes was going to be the end of the franchise. Everyone from director Matt Reeves to Andy Serkis were in the press saying so. And they went into the making of War with all that intent in mind. So they went all out to make it so. The result, while not as successful as 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, was still an underlying success, grossing over $490 million at the box office.
Join Matt, Adam, and Garrett as they review and dissect the movie and determine whether it was a good send off or disappointing (temporary) end to the franchise.
And be sure to come back next week, as the boys cap off this massive retrospective with a review of the brand new Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes!
